Expected better sound for the price August 5, 2010

Not a bad set of earphones. The depth of the low frequency is astounding. In fact, the overall range is excellent.
However, to my ear I found the sound to be not well defined enough to warrant the £100ish price tag. I have a pair of iGrado headphones that cost £50 and, although the DX100's do have a better extremely low end response (below note, whale sort of frequencies!) the sound of the iGrado's is far, far superior. Much better separation and more well defined, cleaner, punchier bass.
If you want portable 'phones, then the iGrado's cannot be beaten. If you want in-ear phones then, short of shelling out £300 for the Grado in-ears, these are better than a £40 pair of in-ears. Although I don't think there is so much difference to warrant the extra price tag.
